Energy Up Date

Not every thing on the Energy Front needs to be "New, Bright & Shiney".

How about "Old, Black & Oily"

Commenter WickedPinto pointed out a glaring omission on my last post. A very robust and unbelievably available (as much as 250 to 300 years worth in this Country alone) source of energy – COAL.

Used with new efficient “clean burning” technologies, this domestic fuel should be right up there on top of the list for “transition (away from oil)” technologies.

The DOE NETL Turbine....Advances in these gasification-based systems are required to successfully commercialize technologies that will attain the near-zero emissions goals of the Clean Coal Technology Roadmap.

Now Hear This...

New jet fuel made from Coal.

"A new process using jet fuel made from coal could reduce oil dependence, and improve fuel performance in advanced aircraft."

Thanks to Wicked for reminding me of this "old school" energy source.
